Jackson named Canadian player of the year
Published by Simon Head on December 18, 2009
Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson has received his first award of the season, picking up the 2009 Canadian Male Soccer Player of the Year award.
The Gills frontman hit 22 goals for the Kent side last season, including the all-important stoppage-time header at Wembley that took Gillingham up into League One.
Just a matter of days after that Wembley winner, Jackson made his first international start for Canada and marked his debut by scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 friendly win over Cyprus in Larnaca. He has been a regular in the Canada squad ever since.
His performances for club and country have seen him awarded the honour of Canadian Male Soccer Player of the Year and everyone here at Gills365 would like to congratulate Simeon on his award.
