Man in the Middle: Southend United (A)
Published by Chris Head on October 29, 2009
The Gills make the relatively short trip to Southend for Friday’s evening game at Roots Hall. They will be hoping for a change in fortune as they strive to achieve their first away victory of the season.
Surrey based Gavin Ward has been appointed to referee the game. Originally from Kent, he gained experience in the Kent and Isthmian Leagues. He is currently in his third season as a Football league referee.
At the 2007 Carling Cup Final he became the first match official to be appointed as “reserve assistant” in a major domestic Cup Final.
