Simeon Jackson linked with Blackburn Rovers

Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson has stated his aim to play in a higher division, following numerous reports linking him with a big money move away from Priestfield.
The Canadian international, who has bagged ten goals already this season, scored the winner against Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend. His classy finish, a cool chip from the edge of the area, certainly wouldn’t have looked out of place on a bigger stage.
This morning’s newspapers have linked Jackson with a move to Blackburn Rovers. This comes after reports linking the Gills number ten with moves to Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Everton.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Jackson said he won’t let the speculation affect his form, but made clear his desire to move up the footballing ladder.
“When it is in the press about getting a move it does pray on your mind,” he said.
“But I am just getting my head down and getting goals for this club, but obviously I want to play at a higher level and I would grab the opportunity with both hands.”
Gills manager Mark Stimson has been vocal in his support of the player, prompting suggestions that the club may be looking to sell – if the price is right.
With the newspapers rating Jackson anywhere between £1million and £2million, Gillingham could receive a tidy sum if they did decide to cash in.
Jackson is set for action tonight as Gillingham travel to the Withdean Stadium to take on Brighton & Hove Albion. The match kicks off at 7:45pm.
