Weston signs new Gills deal

Gillingham midfielder Curtis Weston has committed his future to the Kent club, signing a contract extension to take him up to the 2011/2012 season.
The former Leeds United midfielder signed a new two-year deal today, following in the footsteps of teammates Simon King, Andy Barcham and Simon Royce, who have each signed new deals with the club.
Talking to the club’s official website Weston said, “The security is important for me and obviously I enjoy playing here so much so it’s brilliant for me to sign for that long. The fans have been really good to me since I’ve been here and that was a big part of my decision as well.”
Gills manager Mark Stimson was delighted to secure one of last year’s most influential performers on a long-term deal.
“It’s great news. We’ve recently signed Simon King on a long term contract and now we’ve signed Curtis Weston up for three years,” he said.
“I think the kid’s got great potential and I think he realises that now. I look forward to seeing him play in League One and hopefully he will have an effect like he did in League Two. It’s a very, very good signing for the football club.”
