Ones to Watch: Lincoln City

Published by Truebluejock on January 27, 2009

With the Gills on a three-match winning streak, they will be relishing the visit of Lincoln City to the Priestfield this evening. The Imps beat the Gills 2-0 earlier this season and the lads will be aiming to exact revenge this evening. Truebluejock selects 3 to watch from the Imps squad.

Defender – Aaron Brown

Brown (pictured) is no stranger to the Gills faithful having spent a less than successful spell at Priestfield last season. Having been brought in by Ronnie Jepson, Brown was part of the squad that slumped towards the foot of the table and played in the 6-0 thrashing by Swindon. He was made available by Stimmo for transfer but did not leave quietly saying he had been treated like a leper. Rather than move on he has re-iterated his comments this week in the press (see the Gills365 Article for more details). The 28 year old has been something of a journeyman with Lincoln being his tenth club in 11 seasons. He was played as a winger by Jepson but will turn out at left back tonight. I am sure that the fans will give Brown, who wears the number 3 shirt, a “warm” reception.

Midfielder – Lee Frecklington

Frecklington is a Lincoln born midfielder who has graduated through the club’s centre of excellence. The 23 year old is a crowd favourite with his all action display and goals from midfield. He has made quite an impact at Sincil Bank becoming the fans player of the year and making the League 2 Representative team in 2006-07, which culminated in International recognition at Ireland B Level. He has made over 130 appearances for the Imps and scored 22 goals, including 6 so far this season. He scored the opener in the Gills’ 2-0 reverse earlier this season and wears the number 8 shirt.

Striker – Dany N’Guessan

The 21 year old striker scored the other goal against the Gills earlier this season and will be keen to add to his 5 goals this season. The Frenchman joined the Imps from Glasgow Rangers in January 2007 where he failed to make an impact after a £150k move from Auxerre. He scored 8 times last season and has been a regular this term and the Lincoln Management Team hopes that he will form a potent strike force with Geoff Horsfield. Dany wears the number 12 shirt.
